JONESBORO, Ark. (11/1/26) – Arkansas State soccer (3-9-4, 1-6-2 SBC) tied the contest at 1-1 late in the second half, but a goal in the final minutes resulted in a 2-1 defeat versus Louisiana (11-5-3, 5-3-2 SBC) on Sunday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
Kennedy Horn was responsible for the Scarlet & Black's lone goal in the contest while
Maddy Tapley led the team with three shots.
The Ragin' Cajuns struck in the sixth minute and moved ahead 1-0, but A-State would not allow another shot in the first half. Tapley's shot on goal preceded the score for the opposition, but a save from goalkeeper Natalie Mayes kept A-State off the board. The Red Wolves outshot the opposition 5-1 in the first 45 minutes, but Louisiana held a one-point advantage at intermission.
In the 66th minute,
Freya Sinclair found a gap in the defense during a free kick and Horn took advantage to secure her seventh goal of the season. The opposition accounted for all six shots beyond that point, including a go-ahead goal in the 88th minute to make the score 2-1. A-State would not be able to respond in the final minutes as the clock hit 0:00.
