ATLANTA, Ga. (3/22/26) – Arkansas State (16-8, 3-3 SBC) fell Sunday afternoon at Georgia State (13-12, 2-4 SBC), held scoreless across the final four innings in the 9-5 loss at the GSU Baseball Complex.
Georgia State opened up the offense with three hits in a row to start the bottom of the first, scoring two. A double play cleared the bases, but a solo shot gave the Panthers the 3-0 lead after the opening frame.
A-State responded in the top of the second with back-to-back solo bombs from
Cason Campbell and
Derek Martinez to lead off. Georgia State got re-established the lead at three by loading the bases, drawing a HBP-RBI, and hitting into a double play that scored the runner from third.
A-State put two ducks on the pond in the third, with a ball into the outfield by Campbell send both home. GSU stayed quiet in the bottom of the third but added two runs in the fourth with a solo home run and an RBI-double off the wall.
Campbell scored
Patrick Engskov off a single out of the infield in the top of the frame to bring the score to 5-7 heading into the sixth. GSU struck a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to double the lead entering the final three innings but the score held steady.
