MARICOPA, Ariz. (4/1/26) – Senior
Thomas Schmidt earned his sixth career medalist honors as the Arkansas State men's golf team finished second in the Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes.
Schmidt posted three consecutive rounds in the 60s to total 13-under par 203, tied for the 10th-lowest 54-hole total in program history. In 24 rounds played this season, Schmidt has now finished in the 60s in 12 following back-to-back 5-under 67's and a final round 3-under par 69. Schmidt owns the most medalist honors in program history with six passing Zan Luka Stirn's five from 2017-22. It is his second medalist honor of the season and fourth finish inside the top two.
Milan Reed totaled 5-under par 211 (69-71-71) to place tied for 12th for the Red Wolves.
Jake Wallis gave A-State three players inside the top 20 tying for 20th at 3-under par 213 (72-70-71).
Cole Kirby totaled 1-under par 215 (66-77-72) to tie for 33rd and
Jake Lile tied for 60th at 3-over par 219 (71-75-73).
A-State finished up the suspended second round at 5-under par 283 and followed with an identical 5-under par 283 in the final round to total 25-under 839 for the tournament. No. 28 USC won by one stroke at 26-under 838 while Grand Canyon (-23), No. 49 UNLV (-19), Wichita State (-17), St. Mary's (-15), No. 45 USF (-11), UTEP (-11), Wyoming (-11) and No. 42 San Diego (-9) completed the top 10.
The Red Wolves close out the regular season April 13-14 at RidgePointe Country Club in the A-State Spring Invitational.
