JONESBORO, Ark. (5/12/26) – Arkansas State redshirt junior pitcher
Ckyler Tengler was selected as Week 13 Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, May 12 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Week, and Perfect Game Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Â
Tengler commanded the mound for Arkansas State's seventh no-hitter in program history and first since Taylor Fowler's feat in 2005. For a full 9.0 innings, the right-hander threw 93 pitches for nine strikeouts, and allowing just one batter to reach base on a hit-by-pitch in the fourth inning.
Â
The Searcy, Arkansas native originally signed with Little Rock out of high school, but played for two years at ASU-Mountain Home before joining the Red Wolves for his first season in 2026. Finishing with a complete game shutout in under 100 pitches, Tengler also achieve the rare "Maddux", named after Pro Baseball Hall of Famer Greg Maddux. Tengler's Maddux is just the sixth recorded instance in all of DI Baseball in 2026 and the only to achieve a no-hitter in the process.
Â
Tengler was named the 5/12 Pitcher of the Week by the College Baseball Foundation (CBF). The purpose of the CBF is to preserve, elevate, and advance the game; to inspire the next generation; to teach those who love college baseball about its rich history and traditions; to celebrate those who make college baseball special; and to honor those who have come before us, and built the foundation upon which college baseball thrives today.
Â
Tengler and the Red Wolves are back in action on Thursday, May 14 at South Alabama with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
