JONESBORO, Ark. (9/17/26) –
Helena Bueno, a second year standout on the Arkansas State women's tennis team, has been selected to represent Brazil at the U21 South American Championships in Rosario, Argentina Sept. 21-26.
The event serves as an official Olympic cycle event and a direct qualifier for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. Singles, doubles and mixed doubles will be played with a direct knockout format.
"It is an absolute honor to be selected for the Brazilian National Team and to compete at the South American Games is a dream come true," Bueno said. "I'm ready to give my best on the court for my country and the Red Wolves family."
A spring arrival to the A-State roster last season, Bueno earned five singles wins and nine doubles victories helping the Red Wolves advance to the postseason for the first time in program history and ultimately the UTR NIT crown. Hanmare McAslin secured a 6-4 win in doubles against No. 74 South Alabama in a 4-0 win, the first win over a ranked opponent in program history.
