MEMPHIS, Tenn. (9/18/26) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season with six wins against Middle Tennessee Friday morning at the Memphis Invite.
A-State swept three courts of doubles and added three more wins in singles. The No. 1 pair of
Lilly Cvanciger and
Carla Muro Castellvi won 6-3 while the duo of
Sara Kastakova and
Hanmare McAslin picked up a 6-2 victory on court two.
Lara Margocova and
Meghna Arun Kumar teamed up on court three and earned a 6-1 decision to complete the sweep.
Making their collegiate debuts, Kastakova and Margocova added singles victories in a strong first impression for the Red Wolves. Kastakova earned a 7-6 (0), 7-5 win over Lena Peyer on court three while Margocova rallied back for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-2 win against Maria Palacios on court five. McAslin added a 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 triumph on court six to the Red Wolves ledger while Cvanciger fell 5-7, 6-2, 5-10 on court one and Muro Castellvi came up short 6-7 (4), 5-7 on court two.
The Red Wolves continue the Memphis Invite Saturday at 9 a.m. against the host Memphis before closing out the weekend taking on Murray State Sunday.
Anna Grigoreva plays at 8 a.m. Saturday in the pre-qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships against Alana Boyce of North Carolina.
