Tessa Akers begins her first season at Arkansas State in 2021 as the Red Wolves’ Director of Recruiting.
Akers came to A-State from Michigan State, where she served as the football team’s on-campus recruiting coordinator in 2020. She spent the previous season in the same role at the University of Colorado.
Prior to her time in Boulder, Akers spent two years at her alma mater, Georgia Southern, in multiple capacities. She began her time with the Eagles in 2017 serving as a football operations and recruiting intern before taking over the Eagle Football Alumni Association Coordinator title during the season. Her final year (2018) in Statesboro saw her take over the on-campus recruiting coordinator and assistant to the head coach positions.
Akers earned her bachelor’s degree in sports management from Georgia Southern University in 2017. While earning her degree, she worked as a volunteer student assistant in the operations and recruiting areas.
Akers was born in Charleston, S.C., and graduated from its Wando High School, where she lettered in basketball. She spent two summers as the activity coordinator at the Point Pleasant Resort on the island of St. Thomas.
