Zac Jancek begins his second season at Arkansas State in 2022 as a defensive analyst for the Red Wolves.

His first year at A-State saw the Red Wolves post six more turnovers gained than the previous season.  The Red Wolves increased their interceptions total from six in 2021 to seven in 2022, while also recording one more fumble recovery.

A-State also showed a marked improvement on the defensive side of the ball in the second half of the season, allowing 157 fewer yards per game and 16.0 less points per contest over the last six outings in comparison to the first six.  The Red Wolves also allowed 2.4 yards less per play during that stretch, which included a win over ULM that was clinched on A-State interception.

A former player under current A-State head coach Butch Jones at Tennessee, Jancek joined the Red Wolves’ staff after most recently spending the 2019 and 2020 seasons as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Colorado State.

Jancek worked specifically with the Rams’ linebackers, a group that included 2020 Second Team All-Mountain West Conference player Dequan Jackson.  The team’s leading tackler, Jackson posted 40 stops, 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.

Jancek earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Tennessee in 2018 after posting a cumulative 3.10 GPA as a football student-athlete for the Volunteers.  A preferred walk-on quarterback for four seasons (2015-18), Jancek was a four-time SEC Honor Roll member.
