Rudy Evans enters his third season on the Arkansas State women’s basketball staff after being hired as an assistant coach by head coach Destinee Rogers ahead of the 2023-24 season.

After playing an important role in the Red Wolves' effectiveness in turnovers (63rd nationally) and scoring defense (fifth in SBC) during his debut season, Evans was promoted to associate head coach alongside Lizzie Nessling ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

He helped lead the Scarlet and Black to a 21-11 (15-3 SBC) record in 2024-25, resulting in the program's first Sun Belt Conference Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Red Wolves led the nation in three-point shooting and posted high national ranks in bench points per game (4th), turnovers forced per game (31st), steals per game (31st), and rebounds per game (50th). The program produced All-Sun Belt Second and Third Team selections, two All-Sun Belt Tournament honorees, and the Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

No stranger to the Sun Belt Conference, Evans joined Rogers' staff after spending two seasons at Marshall. The Cleveland, Ohio, native spent one season as Director of Basketball Operations before being elevated to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2022-23 season.

Prior to his stint in Huntington, Evans spent the 2020-21 season at Notre Dame College as an assistant coach/director of player development. He also spent the 2019-20 season at Division-II Urbana University as the program's top assistant, helping the Blue Knights enjoy their most successful season in four years.

Evans' previous stops include three seasons at NAIA Lourdes University, as well as three years at his alma mater Berea College in Kentucky. There, he helped recruit five All-Americans and a conference Newcomer of the Year.

Evans also gained coaching experience through AAU teams and helping with the women's program at Berea. He was head coach of the Kentucky Premier Women's AAU team in 2015-16, helping a pair of student-athletes earn Division-I scholarships.
