BLOOMINGTON,
Ind. (8/17/2012) — The Arkansas State women's soccer suffered a 3-0 loss to
Indiana on Friday night in its 2012 regular season opener.
The
Red Wolves (0-1-0) fell behind 2-0 in the first nine minutes after the
Hoosier's Lisa Nouanesengsy scored two early goals. Nouanesengsy scored just 50
seconds into the game and scored again on a penalty kick in the eighth minute
to give Indiana (1-0-0) an early advantage. She added a third goal in the
second half to complete the hat trick.
“We got exactly
what we needed, which was a stiff challenge from a program bigger than us,” ASU
soccer coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge
said. “As much as we didn't get the result we wanted our young team played
their hearts out.”
Sophomore
Christina Fink took four of A-State's eight shots on the night and also
registered a shot on goal. Junior Becca Wheeler also added a shot goal, while
Madison Joyce, Christina Giles and Katey Carmichael all took shots on the
night.
Audrey
Baldwin played all 90 minutes in goal for the Red Wolves and made three saves.
The
Red Wolves will return to the field Sunday, Aug. 19 for home match against
Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The match it set to begin at 5 p.m.
