JONESBORO, Ark. (2/28/15) —The Arkansas State women's tennis dropped a pair of road tennis matches to Lipscomb and Western Kentucky over the weekend. The Red Wolves dropped a 5-2 contest to Bisons on Friday night and then lost a 5-2 match Saturday to the Hilltoppers.
Against Lipscomb Tamara Slijepcevic and Julie Gaugery captured the only singles victories in the match. Slijepcevic defeated Hannah Gamage 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match, while Gauguery defeated Deahna Welcher 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. The Bisons captured the No. 3 through No. 6 matches and took the doubles point to hand the Red Wolves' the loss. Sabina Jeresic and Slijepcevic won the only doubles' match of the night for A-State with an 8-2 win over Jenny Brock and Welcher.
Against Western Kentucky, Daria Iurchenko defeated Emily Przystawski 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 in the No. 6 match and Jeresic captured a 6-3, 6-0 win over Gabby Crofford in the No. 5 match, but those would be the only singles wins of the afternoon for Arkansas State. The Hilltoppers won the No. 1 through No. 4 matches and won captured the doubles point with victories in two of the three matches. Sofia Krsmanovic and Jess Heeps-Eriksen won the No. 3 over Gabby Crofford and Emily Prztstawski 8-3.
The Red Wolves return to the courts for a road contest on Friday, March 6 at Kennesaw State, followed by road match March 7 at Georgia Southern.
