STATESBORO, Ga. (3/24/19) – The Arkansas State women's tennis team fell to Georgia Southern 7-0 on Sunday afternoon in a Sun Belt Conference tennis match.
A-State fell behind early in the match when it dropped the doubles' point to the Eagles by losing on courts one and three. Anita Detlava and Berta Masdevall Masip 6-2 on court one, while Ponrpawee Pramethong and Amelia Guevremont fell to Paula Boixader and Charlotte Van Diemen 6-3 on court three. Shelby King and Shannon O'Brien were lead Lindsay Truscott and Luisa Hrda 5-3 at the time the doubles' point was clinched.
In singles' competition, the Red Wolves lost on all six courts as the Eagles closed out the win. Pramethong lost to De Winter 6-2, 6-3 on court one, while King lost to Boixader 6-2, 6-3 on court two. Detlava faced off against Hartig on court three and fell 6-2, 6-3.
Masdevall Masip suffered a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 setback on court four to Truscott, while O'Brien lost to Goines 6-4, 7-5 on court five. Guevremont closed out the day with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Hrda on court six.
The Red Wolves return to competition against Troy at the A-State Tennis Complex on March 30.
