AUSTIN, Texas/BIRMINGHAM, Ala./ST. LOUIS, Mo. (3/31/23) – Spread across three different meets on Friday, Arkansas State track and field athletes combined for 11 top-five finishes and four event titles on Friday.
Several athletes competed at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, highlighted by Myles Thomas' 100-meter time of 10.26 that ranks the freshman fifth in program history. Danarrion Ard finished in 10.41 to place 32nd in the prelims.
Both Hannah Morris and Courtney Thomas placed ninth in the long jump, while Will Glass ran a wind-aided 13.88 in the 110-meter hurdles. Jonae Cook clocked a time of 11.54 in the 100 meters prelims.
At UAB, Aimar Palma Simo launched a facility-record throw of 66.39m (217-9) to win the men's hammer throw, with Jacob Tracy placing third with a mark of 52.07m (190-2). Patryk Baran competed in the men's javelin, placing fifth with a season-best throw of 48.50m (159-1).
Colby Eddowes also claimed an event victory, with the freshman leaping a facility-record 7.56m (24-9.75) in the men's long jump, while Will Hart jumped 6.33m (20-9.25) to place fourth. In the women's long jump, Izzy Daines placed ninth with a mark of 5.18m (17-0.0) with AJ Allen following in 14th.
Lasse Funck won the men's 1500 meters, finishing in 3:54.68, with Rylan Brown following in second with a personal-best 3:57.54. Dawson Mayberry also registered a career-best time of 3:59.20 to place fourth before finishing second in the men's 5000 meters with a mark of 15:02.81. Zeke McCain finished 14th in the 1500, crossing the finish in 4:13.58.
Noah McMurtrey and Andrew Mason captured the top two spots in the men's steeplechase, running times of 9:49.93 and 9:57.01, respectively. Cadence Lapp registered a third-place mark in the women's steeplechase, as the freshman finished in 11:31.82.
At the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Anna Hunter registered a seventh-place finish in the women's 5000 meters with a time of 18:38.69. Maggie Hunter placed 19th, crossing in 19:12.73 while Emma Hurlbut clocked a time of 19:39.96 to finish 29th.
