THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
THE GRAND FINALE: Menachem Chen and Omar Hussein will conclude A-State's 2026 outdoor season on Wednesday, June 10, at 9:10 p.m. (CT). Both athletes will compete in the men's shot put, marking the first time A-State has sent multiple shot put throwers to the outdoor track and field championships. Chen advanced to the outdoor national meet for the first time in his career with a 19.41m (63-8.25) shot put throw at the NCAA West First Rounds and placed at fifth in the event. Hussein claimed the 10th spot with a personal-best distance of 18.72m (61-5.00), and will make his nationals debut as a true freshman.

THE FORMAT: For the men's shot put, 96 athletes competed in two fields of 48 at the NCAA East and West First Rounds, and the top 12 from each region advanced to the national meet. The 24-athlete field is broken into two flights of 12. Hussein will participate with the first flight, while Chen will compete with the second.

EXTENDING THE STREAK: Arkansas State track and field will have two representatives at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The Red Wolves have sent at least one athlete to the outdoor national meet in each of the last six seasons, the third longest streak in program history. A-State had a representative at the national meet in eight consecutive seasons from 1974-81. A new record would be established in 1996, when George Darko, Sam Hill and Shundra Smith extended the Scarlet and Black's streak to 10 consecutive seasons (1987-96). The next significant streak started in 2011 and lasted through the 2019 campaign, spanning nine seasons. 10 Red Wolves have appeared at nationals since the 2021 season, and two more will join that list on Wednesday, June 10. The group features A-State's last two representatives on the Olympic stage. Camryn Newton-Smith competed for the Australian Olympic Team at the 2024 Summer Olympics while Menachem Chen represented the Israeli National Team at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
