FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (5/27/26) – Arkansas State track and field throwers
Menachem Chen and
Omar Hussein punched tickets to the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships following standout performances on Wednesday at John McDonnell Field.
Chen and Hussein finished inside the top 12 in the men's shot put, with the former posting a distance of 19.41m (63-8.25) to place at fifth while the latter registered an 18.72m (61-5.00) throw to claim the 10th spot. Chen set a new outdoor program record in the event, surpassing Richard Chavez's 19.37m (63-6.75) mark set in 2015, and topped an Israeli national record that stood for over 35 years (1991).
Hussein set a new personal record in the event and now possesses the fifth best shot put throw in A-State's outdoor history. The Red Wolves will have multiple men's shot put competitors at the national championships for the first time ever.
Colby Eddowes clocked in at 13.65 and finished at 16th to qualify for the quarterfinal round in the men's 110-meter hurdles. The 2025 First Team All-American will compete for a return trip to the outdoor national meet on Friday, May 29, at 6:15 p.m.
Egor Kniazev recorded a 44th-place finish in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 55.36m (181-7.00), and
Brandon Williams reached the finish line with a time of 1:50.68 to place at 45th in the men's 800 meters.
