A-State Faces Setback at Little Rock, 59-49

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (12/3/24) – Arkansas State women's basketball (2-4, 0-0 SBC) faced offensive struggles throughout the night, falling to Little Rock (2-5, 0-0 OVC) 59-49 on Tuesday night at the Jack Stephens Center.
 
Kyanna Morgan was the only Red Wolf to reach double figures, leading the Scarlet and Black with 18 points and seven rebounds. As a team, A-State shot 17-for-54 (31.5 percent) from the floor and 7-for-33 (21.2 percent) from beyond the arc.
 
The Red Wolves scored three points over the first four minutes of action before taking a 6-5 lead behind a pair of buckets from Morgan. Little Rock countered and eventually took a seven-point lead with 2:37 remaining, but the Scarlet and Black finished the quarter behind 19-16.
 
Another cold stretch awaited A-State in the second, falling behind by double digits due to a 13-4 run for Little Rock. The Red Wolves broke a 3:49 scoreless stretch with a triple from Kennedie Montue, but went into the break trailing 37-25.
 
A-State shot 34.6 percent (9-for-26) from the floor and 4-for-15 (26.7 percent) from three-point range in the first half.
 
Both sides exchanged shots coming out of intermission, but an 8-0 run gave the Trojans their largest lead of the contest (18) with 5:00 remaining. Despite scoring six of the final eight points in the third, A-State trailed by 14 going into the final quarter.
 
The Scarlet and Black managed to outscore Little Rock 12-8 in the fourth but it would not be enough as the Red Wolves fell by 10 points.
