JONESBORO, Ark. (8/15/24) – Arkansas State women's soccer jumped out to an early advantage and were able to hold on for a season-opening 2-0 victory over Little Rock on Thursday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
A-State outshot the Trojans 15-9 in the contest, and had seven more opportunities from the corners (10-3).
Damaris Deschaine recorded five saves and earned her third career win in the contest.
Emma Riales found the net during the third minute of play thanks to an assist by
Zoie Kempf, giving the Red Wolves a 1-0 advantage. It was Riales' third career goal and her first since the 2021 campaign.
In the 36th minute,
Keelyn Peacock scored the second goal of the day for A-State behind an assist from
Kennedy Horn. It was Peacock's second career goal and gave the Scarlet and Black a 2-0 lead before the intermission.
The Red Wolves outshot Little Rock 8-3 in the second half, but neither team would find the net as A-State jumps out to a 1-0 start on the season.
