A-State-Central Arkansas Suspended

8/29/2024 7:15:00 PM

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/29/24) – Arkansas State women's soccer (2-0-1, 0-0-0 SBC) took a 2-0 lead into the intermission against Central Arkansas (0-2-0, 0-0-0 ASUN) before lightning in the area forced a delay and eventual suspension on Thursday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.

The Red Wolves outshot their opponents 14-6 with five shots on goal in the first half, while the Sugar Bears took the edge in saves 3-1. Three yellow cards were administered in the first 45 minutes with A-State receiving two.

Emma Riales scored 12 seconds into the match thanks to an assist from Zoie Kempf and Emma Riley. It is the Red Wolves second goal inside the first five minutes this season and ties Riales with Keelyn Peacock for the team lead in that category.

Assists from Riales and Nicoline Hansen allowed Phoebe Harpole to record her first career goal in the 20th minute. The Scarlet and Black took five more shots before the half ended, but none would reach the back of the net.

A lightning delay began at the break and remained in effect until all parties agreed to suspend the match with a makeup date to be determined.
