JONESBORO, Ark. (9/20/24) – Arkansas State women's soccer (3-2-2, 0-1-0 SBC) battled against South Alabama (6-3-0, 1-0-0 SBC) before surrendering a late goal in a 1-0 defeat on Friday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
The Jaguars outshot A-State 17-13 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks while the Scarlet and Black claimed the lead in saves 5-3.
Keelyn Peacock led the team with three shots and
Damaris Deschaine recorded all five saves.
The Red Wolves best opportunity to score came in the 63rd minute when
Maya Jones took a shot just feet away from the net, but Allison Luckhardt made the save to keep the game scoreless.
Seconds after having a shot blocked in the 69th minute, South Alabama delivered the first goal of the contest. It was Deschaine's third goal allowed in this season and gave the Jaguars a 1-0 advantage.
A-State took two shots in the final 30 minutes of action, but it would not be enough as time expired.
