JONESBORO, Ark. (9/5/24) – Arkansas State women's soccer (2-1-2, 0-0-0 SBC) kept Kansas State (3-2-1, 0-0-0 Big 12) off the board for 90 minutes, but could not make the winning score as the match ended in a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
A-State was outshot by the Wildcats 12-7, resulting in the former leading in saves 6-3.
Sarah Strong and
Keelyn Peacock led the team with two shots apiece while
Damaris Deschaine recorded her third clean sheet of the season.
The Red Wolves fired their third shot of the contest in the 25th minute, but would not find another opportunity until
Gertie Langford took a shot in the 58th minute.
Sarah Strong delivered two strikes in a five-minute span starting in the 69th minute, but one would be blocked while the other was saved.
Kansas State fired three shots in the final 15 minutes of play, but the Scarlet and Black thwarted the scoring efforts with three blocks. In addition to their 12 shot attempts, the Wildcats were called offsides six times.
It is the fourth shutout in five games for A-State, tying for the ninth-most in a season in school history. The record stands at 11 from the 2020-21 campaign.
