FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (9/18/25) – Arkansas State volleyball (5-4, 0-0 SBC) opened competition at the Razorback Invitational with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19) victory over North Dakota State (6-2, 0-0 Summit) on Thursday afternoon at Barnhill Arena.
Daedrianna Cail led the Red Wolves with 17 kills and two service aces on a .448 hitting percentage while recording a season high of 7 blocks on the defensive end.
Addison Collum tallied nine kills on a .553 clip, while
Kaitlin Whitlock led the team with 17 digs.
As a team the Red Wolves finished with 50 kills on a .217 percentage plus 55 digs and 12 blocks.
Cail recorded a block assist and solo block while an attack error followed by a kill from
Erin Madigan put A-State ahead 4-0 in the opening set. The lead quickly dwindled as the Bison claimed six of the next nine rallies, but a 3-0 scoring run highlighted by a service ace from
Libby Gee-Weiler nullified the effort.
The lead stood at 23-17 before North Dakota State mounted a comeback effort, cutting the advantage to two before Cail secured the set on a kill.
Both sides exchanged points over the first 17 rallies, but kills from Collum and
Devyn Lewis paired with another service ace for Gee-Weiler opened a 12-8 lead. The Scarlet and Black's advantage maxed out at seven points as another kill from Collum notched another set and made the score 2-0.
The third set was tied at 11-11 before a service ace from Madigan paired with an attack error broke the stalemate. A-State held a 21-16 advantage, but another rally from the Bison was too much to overcome as the opposition claimed nine of the next 11 rallies to force a fourth set.
An attack error paired with a kill from Payton Van Veen and a solo block from
Haley Glunz pushed the Red Wolves ahead 9-6, but a solo block and kill from Cail paired with service and attack errors extended the lead to five. A 4-0 scoring run capped by a service ace from
Mia Maloney opened a 21-13 advantage, but North Dakota State claimed the next three rallies in a bid to force a fifth set.
A kill from Cail stonewalled the effort before another from Lewis ended the match.
