JONESBORO, Ark. (5/1/25) – Arkansas State women's basketball adds senior forward Maya Chocano from UC Riverside to the 2026-27 lineup.
"I am really excited about Maya!" Coach Rogers said about the newest member of the Red Wolves. "She is an elite shooter that gives us something at her position that we really needed. She will thrive in our system and she is a go-getter! Jonesboro will love her!"
Chocano joins A-State after three seasons with the Highlanders out of the Big West. Last season she played in all 32 games with 3 starts, averaging 5.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.5 steals per game in 21 minutes on average. Chocano set her career high of 13 points, hitting the mark twice.
As a sophomore, Chocano scored 3.1 points, 2.8 boards, and 0.4 assists per game across all 32 matchups. She set her career-high in rebounds against CSU Bakersfield (1/25) with 12, and made two starts.
A Big West All-Academic Selection all three seasons, the Toronto native was also named twice to the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Chocano prepped at Kings Christian Collegiate and also participated in the Team Canada U18 Assessment camp and was a Team Ontario member. Chocano is also an avid soccer fan and played semi-pro soccer for Oakville SC in Ontario Premier League (formerly League1 Ontario).
