JONESBORO, Ark. (5/10/26) – Arkansas State (28-22, 11-16 SBC) worked from behind all day after Texas State (31-21, 13-14 SBC) stole an early lead and held the Red Wolves at arms' length through all nine Sunday, falling in the home finale 9-15 at Tomlinson Stadium-Slayton Family Field.
The Bobcats totaled six runs in the opening two frames as A-State was unable to respond until the third. A pair of leadoff runners scored one on a fielder's choice, and a
Derek Martinez RBI-single scored another for the 6-2 road advantage.
Texas State popped for three home runs and sent five total runs across the plate in the fifth inning for an 11-2 difference,
Evan Griffis taking one back with an RBI-double in the bottom of the inning.
A quiet sixth, Texas State added run number 12 on a solo shot in the next inning. The Red Wolves stacked hits in the home half of the seventh,
Patrick Engskov scoring on a Martinez hit after reach second with a double of his own. Griffis then notched two on his ninth homer of the season as the inning ended 12-6.
The Bobcats broke open the eighth with another solo homer, but A-State found one of their own. Senior
Jackson Illingworth sent out a solo shot in his first at-bat of the season to lead off the bottom of the frame. An

Patrick Engskov to score two more Red Wolf runs with a rocket out to left-center, his 10th round-tripper of the season and career-high.
TXST scored two more insurance runs in the ninth inning to set the final score at 9-15 for the Bobcats to take all three in the series.
