JONESBORO (1/9/07) - Arkansas State running back Reggie Arnold (Little Rock, AR) has been named to the Football Writers Association of America's 2006 Scripps Freshman All-America Team after rushing for 1,076 yards and four touchdowns.
The redshirt freshman was a two-time Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, became the 13th player in ASU history to rush for over 1,000 yards and ranked No. 3 in the Sun Belt Conference in rushing. Arnold, who started every game at running back, rushed for over 100 yards in five games, including a career-high of 156 yards. He posted at least 140 yards in three games and averaged 5.1 yards per carry for the entire season. Arnold ranked No. 3 in all-purpose yards in the Sun Belt Conference.
Arnold, also named to The Sporting News Freshman All-America Team, was the third leading rusher in the nation among all freshmen in 2006. Additionally, Arnold was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference and the Little Rock Touchdown Club's ASU Player of the Year.
