JONESBORO,
Ark. (1/22/13) – The Arkansas State University men's and women's indoor track
and field teams will host their annual ASU Invitational this Friday (Jan. 25)
at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Action
at the ASU Invitational commences at 10 a.m. (CT) with field events for both
the men and women. The weight throw and
shot put will serve as the meet's initial two events.
The
running events are slated for an 11 a.m. (CT) start with preliminaries in the
55-meter dash and the 55-meter hurdles.
The finals will get underway around 1:30 p.m. (CT).
The
Red Wolves, under second-year head coach Jim
Patchell, will compete in the meet as a full team for the second time this
indoor season as ASU's sprinters and distance runners didn't participate in
this past Saturday's (Jan. 19) Eastern Illinois John Craft Invitational.
“We're
excited about getting started this semester with the indoor season at home this
Friday,” said Patchell. “The team has
had a good break and we're looking forward to competing again. We have several quality teams entered and it
should be a great competition.”
Approximately 17 schools are scheduled to compete in the this year's ASU Invitational including Ole Miss, Troy, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama, McNeese State,
Southeast Louisiana, Central Arkansas, and UALR among others.
Admission
to the 2013 ASU Invitational is $4 for adults and $2 for kids. ASU students with a valid ID will be admitted
free of charge.
