Beauchamp, Pascoe Receive SBC Weekly Honors

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/19/20) – For the second week in a row, two Arkansas State track and field athletes received recognition for standout performances this past weekend at the Indoor Gorilla Classic

Lauren Beauchamp and Bennett Pascoe were named Sun Belt Conference Women's Field and Men's Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, after league-best results on Friday and Saturday at Pittsburg State.

In the women's pole vault on Friday, Beauchamp cleared a lifetime-best 3.92m (12-10.25) to move into the conference lead in the event ahead of the conference indoor championship meet next week. The junior's mark was good enough to capture a second-place finish and ranks sixth all-time in A-State indoor history.

Beauchamp's result means that Red Wolves hold the top two spots in the women's pole vault going into the conference championships, with Callie Hicks in the No. 2 spot.

Pascoe had a busy weekend on the track, beginning on Friday with the distance medley relay. There, he anchored a school-record distance medley relay (9:51.43) with a 4:07 mile before running one of the best 3000m times in school history on Saturday. The Red Wolves' DMR of Seth Waters, Jermie Walker, Gregoire Saury and Pascoe ranks 16th in the NCAA, with that mark ranking as the fastest of the week in Division I.

The Conway, Arkansas, native then closed the weekend with a 3000m run of 8:19.98 that moves him up to second in school history in that event. The mark now gives him the top spot in three individual events going into the conference championships: the mile, 3000m and 5000m, as well as the DMR.

Wednesday's honors give the Red Wolves a league-best seven total conference weekly honors in the indoor season and marks the third time this season that more than one athletes achieved the accolades.

Beauchamp, Pascoe and the rest of the Red Wolves will next head to Birmingham, Alabama, for the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, held Feb. 24-25 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
