JONESBORO, Ark. (4/12/23) – Arkansas State track and field athletes Lauren Beauchamp and Rahel Broemmel swept the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor weekly honors, the league office announced Wednesday.

Broemmel garnered Women's Track Athlete of the Week laurels after running a pair of strong distance races this past weekend at the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss., while Beauchamp took Women's Field Athlete of the Week billing after a season-best mark in the pole vault.

Wednesday's accolades are the first and second of the outdoor season for A-State, as well as Broemmel's first weekly honor of her career and the third for Beauchamp – her first since earning indoor laurels on Feb. 4, 2021.

On Friday in Oxford, Broemmel ran a program-best 4:22.23 to place fourth in the women's 1500 meters – a time that leads the Sun Belt Conference. She followed it Saturday with a time of 2:11.58 in a seventh-place finish in the 800 meters. Her 800-meter mark is sixth in A-State outdoor history.

Beauchamp cleared a season-best 3.92m (12-10.25) in the women's pole vault to finish sixth overall. Her mark is second in the Sun Belt Conference entering the week, but was the best performance by any Sun Belt pole vaulter on the week.
