NASHVILLE, Tenn. (1/20/24) – Will Glass broke his own school record in the men's 60-meter hurdles on Saturday to highlight day two of the Vanderbilt Invitational for the Arkansas State track and field teams.
Glass won the event with a time of 7.74, breaking his own program-best mark. He finished ahead of runner-up Colby Eddowes, who clocked a career-best time of 7.77. Freshman Kenyon Parker also competed in the final round, finishing fourth with a time of 7.98 to rank seventh in school history. Josh Jones ran a personal-best 8.27 in the first round, but finished just outside qualifying position.
A pair of top-3 finishes opened the day in the men's shot put, with Menachem Chen (15.86m/52-0.5) and Chris Boyd (15.71m/51-6.5) placed second and third, respectively, with career-best marks. In the invitational section of the shot put, Willem Coertzen placed as the top collegian thrower, finishing third overall with a mark of 17.66m (57-11.25).
In the women's shot put invite, Michelle Ogbemudia placed fifth with a best throw of 16.02m (52-6.75).
Freshman Kaci Andrus won the women's pole vault, clearing a personal-best 3.80m (12-5.5).
In the men's 3000 meters, Cash Kunkel moved up to third in school history in the event, placing 10th with a time of 8:12.83. Jaybe Shufelberger led a trio of runners in the women's race, placing 17th with a finish of 9:54.47, while Mary Beth Bailey (10:02.02) and Anna Hunter (10:37.17) ran personal-best times.
Hannes Fahl (4:06.87) and Lasse Funck (4:12.75) ran personal bests in the men's mile, while Rahel Broemmel placed fifth in the women's race with a mark of 4:47.94.
Tyra Nabors clocked a qualifying time of 8.61 to advance to the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles, but did not compete in the final round.
In the men's 400 meters, Spencer Taylor placed ninth (48.48) while Mehki Hoo (49.56) placed 22nd in collegiate-best performances.
