BOSTON (3/9/24) – Arkansas State track and field's Colby Eddowes capped a stellar indoor campaign at the NCAA Indoor Championships, placing seventh in the heptathlon on Saturday at The Track at New Balance.
Eddowes broke his own school and conference records with a score of 5,885 points to give A-State two First Team All-Americans indoors for the first time since 2014 after Bradley Jelmert took silver in the pole vault on Friday. His finish also gave A-State's men's team 10 points to finish tied for 24th in the team standings, the program's first top-25 finish since 2014.
The Canberra, Australia, native entered Saturday in sixth place with 3,273 points and opened the day with a time of 7.99 in the 60-meter hurdles to move up to fourth in the standings. He then cleared 4.66m (15-3.5) in the pole vault portion before running a career-best time of 2:44.77 in the 1000 meters for his career-best performance.
