Red Wolves Travel West for Mt. SAC Relays & Bryan Clay Invitational, Competing Saturday at LA Tech

JONESBORO, Ark. (4/15/25) – Arkansas State track and field opens the week on the West Coast Wednesday, traveling to the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Competition at the Mt. SAC Relays begins Wednesday with the first day of the decathlon, while distance runners open action on the track in the 10,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

A-State also will be competing Saturday in Ruston, La., at the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:

1.     CONFERENCE LEADERS: Arkansas State leads the Sun Belt this season in multiple events, listed below.
MEN
5000 meters: Jacob Pyeatt – 13:35.90 (#11 West, #21 NCAA)
110m Hurdles: Colby Eddowes – 13.58 (#9 West, #13 NCAA)
Pole Vault: Bradley Jelmert – 5.55m/18-2.5 (#1 NCAA, #1 West)
Hammer: Noa Isaia – 62.54m/205-2 (#34 West)

WOMEN

Pole Vault: Carly Pujol – 4.30m/14-1.25 (#13 West, #17 NCAA)
 

2.     REGIONAL STANDINGS: Arkansas State has 12 athletes currently in position to qualify for the NCAA West Regionals (May 28-31 in College Station), ranking among the top 48 in their event. A-State's men have 10 athletes among the top 48 in at least one event. National leader Bradley Jelmert leads the way in the pole vault, while Colby Eddowes is ninth in the 110-meter hurdles and Jacob Pyeatt coming in at 11th in the 5000 meters. Menachem Chen ranks 29th in the shot put and 33rd in discus, while Chris Boyd is 36th in the shot put. Josh Jones is 27th in the 400-meter hurdles, with Noa Isaia currently 34th in the hammer throw. In the 100 meters, Camren Bailey and Javarian Otey are tied for 38th. On the women's side, Carly Pujol is 13th in the pole vault while Michelle Ogbemudia is 26th in the shot put. 
 

3.     #EVENTSQUAD: The Red Wolves boast a pair of top-12 event groups in the third #EventSquad rankings of the outdoor season. A-State's 110-meter hurdles quartet of Colby Eddowes, Will Glass, Josh Jones and Kenyon Parker ranks fourth nationally, while it ranks 11th in the men's pole vault behind the efforts of national leader Bradley Jelmert, Jacob Dorrell, Gavin Schaer and John Carswell.
