BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (1/15/25) – Five Arkansas State track and field athletes participated in the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon to open the first day of competition at the Samford Invitational on Thursday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Kenzie Pruett recorded 2,847 points to finish 12th in the pentathlon while
Miranda Burgett claimed first place in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump. Burgett finished second in the shot put, but established a new personal best with a mark of 12.30m (40-4.25).
Pruett ended the day with a top three finish, clocking in at 2:32.08 in the women's pentathlon to finish third.
Gavin Schaer led the Red Wolves with a sixth-place finish in the first day of the men's heptathlon, posting 2,551 points while matching a personal record in the high jump 1.92m (6-3.50).
Colby Eddowes recorded the Red Wolves third first-place finish of the day in the men's high jump by registering a distance of 2.01m (6-7.00).
The men's heptathlon will conclude on Jan. 16 with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter dash.
