JONESBORO, Ark. (3/20/26) – Arkansas State track and field opens the 2026 outdoor campaign on Saturday, March 21, at the LSU Opener in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Annika Wilbanks will open competition in the women's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. while 20 Red Wolves are set to follow in 14 additional events.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
AMONG THE BEST NATIONALLY: Arkansas State track and field ranked seventh nationally for the men's shot put in the USTFCCCA Men's Indoor Track & Field #EventSquad rankings. The throwers averaged a distance of 17.52m over the course of the season, with junior
Menachem Chen leading the way with a distance of 18.20m (59-8.50) at the 2026 SBC Indoor Championships. Individually, Chen placed 61st in the country. The Red Wolves also ranked 20th in the men's pole vault and 22nd in the men's 60-meter hurdles. The #EventSquad rankings evaluate team depth by combining performances of a team's top athletes in individual events.
ALSO AMONG THE BEST IN CONFERENCE: The Red Wolves' men's team ended the 2026 indoor season with a score of 390.73 on the USTFCCCA Track & Field Ratings Index. The total ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference, with only 0.71 points separating A-State from Texas State (390.73), while 10.77 points separate the Scarlet and Black from Louisiana (400.79). South Alabama holds the fourth-place spot with a point-total of 310.88.
THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS: Colby Eddowes,
Kamil Przybyla and
Miranda Burgett claimed gold at the 2026 SBC Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Eddowes claimed his third consecutive title in the men's heptathlon with a point-total of 5,671. He is the first Red Wolf to win three consecutive indoor conference titles in the men's heptathlon. A-State assistant coach
Matt Vining is the only other athlete in program history to win consecutive Sun Belt titles in the event, claiming gold during the 2006 and 2007 campaigns. Burgett moved to second place in program history for the women's pentathlon with a point-total of 3,937 points. She claimed her first gold at the conference championships by a 36-point margin. Przybyla earned his first individual title at the conference championships with a time of 1:52.64 in the 800 meters.
Brandon Williams finished second while
Brett Jacobs placed third.
