A-State Sweeps Shot Put Titles and Pujol Claims Top Spot in Women’s Pole Vault at LSU Opener

BATON ROUGE, La. (3/21/26) – Arkansas State track and field opened the 2026 outdoor season with three event titles and 11 top-five finishes on Saturday at the LSU Opener inside Bernie Moore Stadium.
 
Carly Pujol claimed the ninth event title of her collegiate career with a height of 4.00m (13-1.50) in the women's pole vault. Selase Sampram and Menachem Chen swept the men's and women's shot put titles, with the former posting a distance of 15.99m (52-5.50) while the latter recorded a mark of 17.91m (58-9.25).
 
It is the second time A-State has swept an event during the 2025-26 indoor and outdoor seasons, last doing so on Jan. 16 at the Samford Invitational. Chen won the men's shot put title while Finja Dziobek secured the top spot on the women's side.
 
Jared Moore debuted in the men's hammer throw and registered a distance of 55.96m (183-7.00), moving to ninth all-time in program history for the event. Chris Boyd joined the Fayetteville, Georgia, native with a personal best of 53.33m (174-11.00) and moves to 10th place in the program record book.
