A-State Travels to Alumni Bulldog Relays and WashU Distance Carnival

JONESBORO, Ark. (3/26/26) – Arkansas State track and field continues the 2026 outdoor season with trips to the Alumni Bulldog Relays in Starkville, Mississippi, and the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis from March 26-28.
 
The Red Wolves open the weekend with the men' and women's hammer throw on Thursday in Starkville. Finja Dziobek and Annika Wilbanks will compete for the women while Chris Boyd, Jared Moore and Egor Kniazev represent the men's side.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
STRONG START: Arkansas State track and field claimed three event titles and posted 11 top-five finishes overall on March 21 at the LSU Opener in Baton Rouge. Selase Sampram posted a 15.99m (52-5.50) mark in the women's shot put to claim the top spot, and leads the Sun Belt in the event while ranking 11th nationally. Carly Pujol made her 2026 debut in the women's pole vault and recorded a height of 4.00m (13- 1.50) to record the ninth event title of her collegiate career.
 
SBC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Junior thrower Menachem Chen claimed the men's shot put title on Saturday, March 21, at the LSU Opener. The Rishon LeZion, Israel native registered a distance of 17.91m (58-9.25) to claim first place in the shot put and followed with a 56.11m (184-1.00) discus throw resulting in a third-place finish. For the outdoor season, he leads all Sun Belt throwers in the shot put and holds the second farthest distance in the discus throw, while both marks rank 14th nationally. The 2026 Indoor All-Sun Belt Second Team selection now holds three event titles in the shot put for the 2026 indoor and outdoor campaign, and earned his first career conference player of the week honor following the most recent performance
 
HAMMER THROW SUPERLATIVES: Chris Boyd and Jared Moore opened the 2026 outdoor season with top 10 program marks in the men's hammer throw. Boyd set a new personal record with a throw of 53.33m (174-11.00), the 10th farthest in the Red Wolves' record book. In his outdoor debut at the collegiate level, Moore threw his name into ninth place in program history for the event with a distance of 55.96m (183-7.00). It is the longest distance recorded in the hammer throw by an active Red Wolf and the 10th-best among Sun Belt throwers.
