A-State Concludes Alumni Classic With Seven Event Wins; Noffz’s Historic Day Wraps Competition in California

AZUSA, Calif./JONEBORO, Ark./ LA VERNE, Calif. (4/19/26) – Arkansas State track and field concluded competition at the Alumni Classic on Saturday while the Red Wolves' distance runners wrapped action in California during the early hours of Sunday morning.
 
ARKANSAS STATE ALUMNI CLASSIC
A-State maintained momentum established on the first day by claiming seven first-place finishes to conclude competition.
 
Chris Boyd and Menachem Chen recorded top-three finishes in the men's shot put, with the former throwing for a distance of 18.81m (61-8.50) while the latter posted an 18.76m (61-6.50) mark. Boyd and Chen now account for the third and fourth farthest shot put throws in program history.
 
JoJo Modile opened the day with a time of 13.83 in the women's 100 meters while Colby Eddowes followed with a 14.13 mark in the 110-meter hurdles. Modile set a new personal best in the event, and both athletes finished in first place.
 
Alexis Waller secured her second event title of the 2026 campaign with an 11.68m (38-3.75) mark in the women's triple jump. Ali Lara continued the Scarlet and Black's wave of success by capturing her first collegiate event win, posting a 1:03.79 time to take the top spot.
 
Gavin Schaer set a new outdoor personal best in the men's high jump with a distance of 2.00m (6-6.75), and Selase Sampram recorded the final first-place finish of the day with a 46.71m (153-3.00) discus throw.
 
Overall, A-State won 16 of the 31 events at the 2026 edition of the Alumni Classic.
 
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
The Red Wolves' distance runners competed in the Open A and Open B editions of the 1500 meters. Parker Noffz finished at fourth place out of 185 contestants with a time of 3:47.68 in the men's Open B event.
 
He set a new personal best and claimed the eighth fastest time in A-State's outdoor history for the event. Noffz also competed in the 5000 meters at the Leopard Invitational and finished at eighth place with a time of 14:38.92. It was the Flower Mound, Texas, native's second program top 10 mark of the day, standing alone at ninth place in outdoor history.
