Preview: UAB Vulcan Invitational

JONESBORO, Ark. (1/10/20) – While the calendars have turned to a new decade, the Arkansas State track and field team is set for its second meet of the year, with a small contingent of Red Wolves traveling to Birmingham, Alabama, for the UAB Vulcan Invitational.

A total of 21 current Red Wolves will converge upon the Birmingham CrossPlex, the site of the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, on Saturday. Action begins at 9 a.m. CT with the men's shot put and continues through the women's weight throw at 4 p.m.

In addition to A-State and host UAB, 20 other universities will be represented, including Sun Belt Conference foes Texas State and Troy. Saturday marks the first of four trips slated to Birmingham during the indoor season, with the Red Wolves set to compete at the Samford Invitational (Jan. 17) and the UAB Green and Gold Invitational (Jan. 24) during the regular season before returning to the CrossPlex for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 24-25.
