FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- All-American Camryn Newton-Smith currently ranks fifth in the NCAA in the pentathlon (4,068 points) after winning at the Samford Multis on Jan. 21.
- On the women's side, A-State owns 25 marks that rank inside the top five in the Sun Belt so far this season, eight No. 1 marks. The men claim 19 top-five spots, including five No. 1 marks.
- Lauren Beauchamp and Carter Shell recently earned Sun Belt Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors, with Beauchamp winning on the women's side and Shell on the men's side.
- Beauchamp's personal-best jump of 3.97m (13-0.25) made her the first A-State athlete to jump over 13 feet indoors since 2013 and overall since 2015. Her mark was also the highest in the Sun Belt since May 2018 and she was the first 13-foot jumper in the conference indoors since 2017.
- Shell currently ranks 20th in the NCAA in the men's long jump after leaping a personal-best 7.56m (24-9.75) on Jan. 31 at the Scarlet and Black Invitational. He is the only Sun Belt athlete to jump over 24 feet this season.
