One of the most notable players in Arkansas State history, Emmons was a football letterman from 1992-95 and went on to have an 11-year career in the NFL with three franchises … Emmons began his career at A-State as a defensive lineman and led the team in tackles (65) and sacks (6) as the team's starting defensive end in 1993 … He moved to linebacker before the start of the 1994 season and blossomed in the role, earning All-Big West Second Team accolades in 1995 … He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played four seasons with the club before signing as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles … While with the Eagles, he became one of the league's top linebackers and amassed 429 tackles in his final six seasons as a professional … In 2004, he signed with the New York Giants and recorded a career-high 97 tackles … Emmons retired from football in 2006 after suffering a career-ending back injury … Emmons was inducted into the Arkansas State Athletics Hall of Honor in 2015 … He is listed as a starting linebacker on A-State’s All-Centennial Football Team that was announced in 2014.
