Tim Maloney played baseball at Arkansas State from 1981-83 after transferrring from Harper (Ill.) Junior College and was known as "Mr. Hustle" during his playing days. The 5-9, 165-pounder played infield and outfield and earned All-Southland Conference twice, outfielder as a sophomore and second basebaman as a junior. Maloney was named to the NCAA District VI All-Region team in 1983.Â
He was ASU's leading hitter (.357) and ranked high in the league in hitting. During his career at ASU, he set school records for most runs scored and most total bases and tied ASU marks with 13 doubles and seven triples. As a junior, he led the SLC in doubles and triples.Â
Maloney led his team in 11 offensive categories as a junior. He still holds school records in total bases in a game (11) and triples in a season (tied with seven).
