Johnson started every game at offensive tackle during his four years at Arkansas State, a string of 46consecutive contests.  Playing from 1999-2002, he began his career at right tackle before moving to left tackle prior to his junior season and did not allow a sack after his freshman year.  He was the first ASU player ever to be on the Lombardi Award watch list and Outland Trophy watch list.  Johnson was also named first team all-conference three times and second team all-conference as a freshman.

Johnson helped pave the way for record-breaking running back Danny Smith's 1,390-yard season in 2002 while anchoring a line that allowed a league-low seven sacks.   He signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals following his final season at Arkansas State.
