Johnson, named a starter on A-State's All-Centennial Football Team, earned All-Sun Belt Conference recognition at his safety position every year of his career from 2004-07.  He is one of three A-State players to ever be named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, receiving the recognition as a senior in 2007.

The Rison, Ark., native was named to the Sun Belt Conference 10-Year Anniversary Team in 2010.  Johnson posted a career-best 25 tackles against North Texas in 2005 for the second most single-game stops in school history.  Following his time at A-State, Johnson was a second-round NFL Draft selection by the Minnesota Vikings in 2008.
