Miller was inducted into the A-State Hall of Honor in 1986. He was a three-sport athlete, competing in baseball, basketball and track and field. 

In basketball, Miller posted a career-high 41 points in A-State’s 101-51 victory against Central Arkansas during the 1949-50 season. During that game, Miller hit 17 free throws, a mark that continues to stand as the most in a single-game in program history. 

His career total of 1,463 points is eighth all-time at Arkansas State. He was an All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference Team pick after the 1946-47 season.
