Four-year baseball letterman who was a three-time first-team All-America selection at three different positions ... Honored as sophomore third baseman (1964), junior second baseman (1965) and senior center fielder (1966) ... Was first three-time All-American in a team sport in ASU history ... Named All-American as senior despite missing half the season with broken hand ... Led ASU in hitting all three season: .314 in 1965, .334 in 1965 and .395 in 1966 ... Named All-Southland Conference in 1964 and 1966 (award based on performance in league tournament only) ... Hit safely in 10 of the 11 games played during the 1966 season (had broken hand in five places against Mississippi State early in season and was told he would never play again) ... Could run the bases in 16 seconds flat ... After leaving ASU, was named All-State in both semi-pro baseball (played for both the Walnut Ridge Jaycees and DeClerk LP Gas in Pocahontas) and amateur softball ... He coached high school and junior high basketball and baseball teams in Northeast Arkansas area.
